Greetings, Shopsmith friends,

Yes, that email was from the Admin Team, just to let everyone know "the state of the community", and to kind of borrow Kennedy's words about not only asking what SSUG.org can do for you, but what you can do for SSUG.org.

It is never easy, but most of us know that old biblical adage that you have not because you ask not. The purpose of the email was to let the family know what it takes to run the community each year, and to give the family an opportunity to lend some real support.

The contact info in the email gives you the ability and the means to help. If you're reading this and you did not get the email, contact Dylan, Ron, or Dean, your erstwhile admins, and we'll see to it that you get a copy. We'll also see to it that we get your correct email address into the database.

Speedy responses are welcome and encouraged. Don't have to be large, but speedy is good.

Recent Downtime and The New Look

Well, yes the site has been missing for a week. It decided that it didn't like its current arrangement and decided to do everything in its power to protest.

Well at least that's the way I felt after a string of errors, failures, and site corruption. Wow, this is sounding like the Illinois governor! I won't bore you all with the technical details, but it was a nightmare. So now the site has been rebuilt, better systems in place, and thus far ALL of the content should be there. I am still working on the gallery and I hope to have the images back in there soon. The forum should have all postings and the archive, all of its documents. I will also be changing the look and getting logos and colors up, but that takes longer and i wanted to get the data back and the site back up ASAP.

I apologize for the site's absence and hopefully we won't have to do this again.

New documents

I found that there where several documents uploaded to the document archive and where waiting approval. Most center around the 10-E or -ER. Thank you for uploading those Anmius for those.

If you have old shopsmith documents published under the Magna name, If you can please scan them and save them into pdf format and upload them to the site. There might be someone out there who needs something you have. Plus some of that stuff is interesting to read and see what they where offering back then.

The Holidays are fast approching. Hopefully many of you will get to spend a little more time in the shop or you are working on nice gifts for special people in your lives. If you have pictures post them to the ssug.org gallery. Post your questions, hints, and ideas in the forum. We all like good ideas

Recent SSUG.org downtime

I would like to apologize to everyone for the last few days of downtime. Due to the wonderful efforts of a hacker that defaced every site that sat on the same server as ours.

Due to the extent of the damage to the data on the servers the site had to be restored from an off site back up and that was at least 10 days old. So if you have, registered, uploaded an image or made a forum post that is not there now, please re-register, re-upload or re-post.

Again we are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. If you have any questions please let us know.
